Community, Dan Harmon, movie

Community always seemed as though it was perpetually on the bubble, but through what seemed to be sheer force of will (and the love of fans), the comedy series actually lasted six seasons, almost fulfilling the "six seasons and a movie" mantra. There have been rumblings that a feature-film might happen, but now that the series has landed on Netflix, there may never be a better time to get the ball rolling on the project.

While speaking with The Wrap, Community creator Dan Harmon teased that the conversations regarding a feature-film are happening. Get your hopes up, everyone! Harmon said that conversations are "happening that people would want to be happening" and that he's "very, very excited about the coming months."

I can tell people for sure that the enthusiasm for ‘Community,’ both for all of this time and the resurgence of it [on Netflix], there’s always an aspect of that affects the marketplace. And when the marketplace gets affected, conversations happen. And when conversations happen, things happen.

"I mean, when you’re part of the ‘Community’ family, you learn never to raise expectations, keep ‘em nice and low and then be pleasantly surprised," Harmon added. "So I can say that there are conversations happening that people would want to be happening and that I’m very, very excited about the coming months." It may not be a movie, but the cast of Community, including Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Jim Rash, Ken Jeong, and Donald Glover, are all set to reunite for a virtual table-read of an episode later this month.

The table read and Q&A will be shown on Monday, May 18th, at 2pm PT on Sony Pictures TV's Community YouTube page. The two charities which the table read will benefit are José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen and Frontline Foods, both of which have been sending "fresh, nourishing meals to responders working on the frontlines and vulnerable communities across the country." Fans have the option to donate to the charities, but Sony Pictures Television will also be contributing the the charities on the behalf of the Community family.
