We've been hearing a lot of rumblings on the proposed GHOSTBUSTERS 3 over the last few months including rumored directors, character details, and storylines, but we've yet to have any real confirmation on any of the information we've come across. The only thing we know for sure is that it seems the team behind the sequel hasn't stopped fighting to get the film in front of cameras as soon as possible. Earlier this week Dan Aykroyd was on the Today show discussing the 30th anniversary of GHOSTBUSTERS, when the topic of GHOSTBUSTERS 3 came up. Here's what Aykroyd had to say:
It looks like we’ll be in production, pre-production in the spring now, from what I’m hearing. It should be good.
I'll take this with a grain of salt. We've heard rumors of supposed start dates for GHOSTBUSTERS 3 for several years now, and this could just be another case of putting the cart before the horse. I'd like to see another GHOSTBUSTERS flick happen, especially with the involvement of Aykroyd, Ivan Reitman, and other cast members of the first two films, but I'm not holding my breath for it to happen. I'm trying to remain optimistic but realistic about GHOSTBUSTERS 3. We'll just have to wait and see if an official word comes down from the studio.
