Millie Bobby Brown has recently expressed her interest in exploring projects outside of Stranger Things. One of those is the big-budget Netflix sci-fi fantasy, Damsel, which just released its first trailer. Damsel signals a turn into more adult fare for the actress, who recently turned 19, and is set to end her run on Stranger Things after its upcoming season.

Brown has also worked with the streamer on the Enola Holmes movies in addition to Damsel. The movie was initially planned for a 2023 release, but Netflix has confirmed that the film will now come out in 2024. The new trailer promises lots of large scale action courtesy of director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, who previously helmed the excellent 28 Days Later sequel, 28 Weeks Later.

The synopsis of the film reads:

“A dutiful damsel agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to find the royal family has recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. Thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, she must rely on her wits and will to survive.”

Alongside Brown, Damsel also stars Jurassic World‘s Nick Robinson, Angela Bassett and Ray Winstone.

One of the newest projects that Brown also has on the horizon is a post-apocalyptic tentpole film from Avengers directors, the Russo brothers, titled The Electric State, which brings her together with Chris Pratt. Brown recently glowed about the new project, saying, “To be able to go toe-to-toe with Chris Pratt! It’s a very exciting opportunity that I never thought I’d be able to have, to be able to be treated the same as him and to be looked at and respected the same as him on the set by the production, by the studio.”
