Damon Lindelof, Nick Cuse & Craig Zobel talk controversy, satire & The Hunt!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

If you look at the current poster for THE HUNT, the latest from Blumhouse, you’d think the advertising itself was a clever parody with all the ridiculously negative quotes printed on it. What’s really funny is that all the quotes were true, and they were made well before the movie had been seen. While you can certainly find similarities with something like THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME, and even THE HUNGER GAMES franchise, the Craig Zobel directed flick takes on modern politics with it’s extremely bloody tongue planted firmly in cheek. The film stars Betty Gilpin, Hilary Swank, Ike Barinholtz, Ethan Suplee, Emma Roberts and much more.

We recently had the terrific opportunity to sit down with Craig Zobel, along with writers Nick Cuse and Damon Lindelof. For Craig and Nick, the two discussed the early reaction to the film, and how interesting the process was for it to finally be released. For Damon, we discussed all of those quotes on the poster, which led to his own reasons for wanting to tell this particular story. As well, he opened up about the main protagonist and why he wanted to put her right in the middle of all the gruesome insanity on display. And now, after a bit of delay, you too can see what all the fuss is about. THE HUNT opens this weekend at a theatre near you.
