If for some reason you didn't get to the theaters to watch STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, be aware that there will be a few spoilers about how that particular film ends. If you're still with us, either because you've seen the film or don't mind a few spoilers, you'll know that STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, with Rey (Daisy Ridley) traveling to a mysterious planet where she came face to face with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and the pair engaged in a bit of a stare-off.
When production on STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII officially began two weeks ago, a short teaser was released which showed that the film will be picking up where THE FORCE AWAKENS left off and continue Luke and Rey's awkward silence. Daisy Ridley spoke with MTV News on the red-carpet of last night's Oscars and said that STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII will be "two hours of me and Mark Hamill staring at each other, and at the end of the film you're not quite sure if he's going to take it (the lightsaber) or not, IX opens the same way." Kidding aside, Ridley did express her excitement about returning to the world of Star Wars as well as mentioning just how cool Luke Skywalker will be in the film. As if he could be anything else.
Me and Mark [Hamill] have been rehearsing a lot, and it’s really amazing. When we went back to Skellig to do the opening of VIII, it was so crazy doing the same scene with a different crew of people but he’s amazing to rehearse with, and I’m very excited to do the rest of the stuff. It's such a good story, seriously! Luke is so cool in this one!
STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII is set for a December 15, 2017 release.
