Coming hot off the heels of yesterday’s big Star Wars news, it’s been announced that Paramount has purchased the rights to Sonia Purnell’s book A WOMAN OF NO IMPORTANCE. Huh? Hey man, I thought you said this was Star Wars-related news, man! Ah, but I did! Attached to star in the super-spy thriller adaptation is none other than STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS’ star Daisy Ridley.
A WOMAN OF NO IMPORTANCE is a biographical novel that tells the story of American heiress and accomplished-spy Virginia Hall, whose attempts to infiltrate the ranks of the American Foreign Service in the time leading up to World War II are quite legendary. As the story goes, Virginia was rejected by the organization not only because of her gender, but also due to her disability. You see, Hall had lost her leg in a hunting accident before wanting to offer her assistance as a government agent. Notably, Hall was employed during the war by the British Intelligence unit SOE. Later, she allied herself with the OSS, which was a seed that would eventually grow to become the CIA.
Ridley will begin getting her super-sleuth on after she’s wrapped on her other (and many) upcoming projects: MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS, STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI, CHAOS WALKING, KOLMA, and OPHELIA.
Wow! Daisy Ridley has certainly come into her own within this past year or so. I personally think she’s a phenomenal actress and am very excited to see her land so many prominent roles. I still get chills every time I recall her workout regimen when she was prepping for her role as Rey. That girl is mean, and can definitely kick my ass nine ways till Sunday. I’d probably enjoy every moment of it too. Here’s to you, Daisy! Keep up the great work!
As the film has just been announced, there is no confirmed release date scheduled for A WOMAN OF NO IMPORTANCE. However, you can totally catch Daisy when she reprises her role as Rey in the upcoming STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI expected to force its way into theaters on December 15, 2017.
