Daft Punk to score new Dario Argento film

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

EDM duo Daft Punk made a huge splash when they wrote the score to TRON: LEGACY. In fact, while that movie has been kind of lost to time (especially since a planned sequel never panned out), their soundtrack is still considered a major highlight. They even made a cameo in the film! So it's surprising – with how popular and well-received their score was – that they've never been tapped to write another one.

That is…until now. It has been reported by Italian new outlet Repubblica (and translated by The Film Stage ) that Daft Punk will be writing the score for horror icon Dario Argento's new crime film BLACK GLASSES, starring his daughter Asia Argento (who also starred in his last film, DRACULA 3D in 2012), that is, according to Argento himself

[an] adventure, in nocturnal Rome, of a Chinese girl and child. In the second part, the escape takes them into the rocky, bushy countryside of Lazio.

No official release date as of yet, but Argento is hoping to start shooting the film sometime in September.

Now, this isn't the first time that Argento has used bands to do the scores for his films, such as famously using the prog metal band Goblin to do the score for his famous giallo film SUSPIRIA. So it'll be interesting to hear what Daft Punk comes up with, as they'll be doing a thriller rather than a bombastic sci-fi actioner. I for one am looking forward to it!

But what do you guys think? Excited for more Argento films? Excited about more Daft Punk scores? Either way, sound off below!
