D23 Expo: First look at Indiana Jones 5 & Willow costumes and concept art

The D23 Expo is currently underway at the Anaheim Convention Center, and our own Alex Maidy is on hand to bring us all the goodies. There are several displays on the D23 convention floor, including ones from two highly anticipated Lucasfilm projects — Indiana Jones 5 and the Willow TV series.

You can check out some of the costumes and concept art from both Indiana Jones 5 and Willow below!

I’d imagine that we’ll be getting a good look at Indiana Jones 5 and Willow at tomorrow’s big presentation at D23. Personally, I’d just love for Indiana Jones 5 to get a proper title. We don’t know all that much about the upcoming sequel, only that Harrison Ford has returned for one more adventure. In addition to Harrison Ford, the sequel will also star Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Toby Jones, Antonio Banderas, and Shaunette Renée Wilson. John Williams recently debuted a piece of music from Indiana Jones 5. Titled “Helena’s Theme,” the piece is named after Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character, who Williams described as “adventurous” and also a bit of a “femme fatale.

While Steven Spielberg had been expected to return to direct Indiana Jones 5, he stepped down in 2020, saying he wanted to “pass along Indy’s whip to a new generation to bring their perspective to the story.” James Mangold stepped in to replace Spielberg as director, and he also co-wrote the script with Jez and John-Henry Butterworth.

As for Willow, the TV series takes place decades after the events of the original movie. An older and wiser Willow (Warwick Davis) joins forces with an unlikely group of heroes who set off on a dangerous quest to places far beyond their home, where they must face their inner demons and come together to save their world. Willow will debut on Disney+ on November 30th, while Indiana Jones 5 is set for a June 30, 2023 release.
