CW planning a Vampire Diaries spin-off series called The Originals?

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Gross misnomer aside, The CW is ready to pilot a new “Vampire Diaries” spin-off series called “The Originals.” Whoa, whoa…temper your excitement!

Introduced as an actual episode of “Vampire Diaries,” set to air April 25th, the potential spin-off ep will essentially serve as a “backdoor” pilot. Depending on popularity of said airing, the network hopes to get “The Originals” ready for next year. Joseph Morgan and Phoebe Tonkin (pictured) will reprise their roles.

To be written by “VD” alum Julia Plec, the new yarn centers on the Original family of vampires, as Klaus (Morgan) returns to the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans — a town he helped build centuries ago — and is reunited with his diabolical former protégé Marcel. Tonkin also stars, reprising her Vampire Diaries character as werewolf Hayley that was introduced this past fall.

Outside of looking at Phoebe’s fine ass, I can’t think of a single reason why any AITHer would get down on “The Originals.” Unless you’re Ammon of course!
