During the filming of the newest entry in the CHILD'S PLAY series, CULT OF CHUCKY, we were hit with new pics/news seemingly ever damn hour. Since production wrapped, there has been little in the way of new news of the CHUCKY front. Until today…
Last night, Chucky creator and CULT OF CHUCKY writer-director Don Mancini took to Twitter to let the world know that "picture has locked" on CULT OF CHUCKY!
Here is his tweet:
Now while "picture lock" doesn't mean the film is 100% done, it does mean the film is in the homestretch. After the picture is locked on a film, they move to visual effects, sound design, and score. But, sometimes these aspects can overlap so you never know – CULT OF CHUCKY maybe be 100% very, very soon!
There was talk a while back of a Halloween 2017 release for CULT OF CHUCKY and this seems to confirm that, yes, the film is on track to hit us this October. I couldn't be more f*cking excited.
How about you??
CULT OF CHUCKY synopsis (via IMDb)
Confined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic "tool" to facilitate his patients' group sessions – an all-too-familiar "Good Guy" doll with an innocently smiling face – a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn't crazy after all. Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), Chucky's now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child's Play, races to Nica's aid. But to save her he'll have to get past Tiffany (Oscar-nominee Jennifer Tilly), Chucky's long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.
CULT OF CHUCKY is written and directed by Don Mancini and stars Jennifer Tilly, Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent, Grace Lynn Kung, Michael Therriault, Zak Santiago, Summer H. Howell, and, of course, Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky!
CULT OF CHUCKY is set to hit this Halloween.
