The newest Chucky flick CULT OF CHUCKY hits this October if you didn't know. You already knew that? Huh. Strange. Anyhow, as we all await "Chucky on drugs" maybe we can start thinking about the future of the franchise. Don Mancini sure is.
Mancini recently sat down for a Facebook Live Q&A and, of course, the questions quickly turned to, "What's next for Chucky?" and Mancini gave a vague, but interesting answer.
Don Mancini on Chucky's future:
I think that the end of this movie, hopefully, sets up a world of infinite possibilities. That was the intention. David Kirschner and I – he’s been the producer on all of the [Chucky] movies – are talking about a new iteration for the franchise. I know that sounds very vague. But that’s all I can say at this point.
Vague is all fine and good, Mancini. Especially when you're hinting at an infinite world of possibilities, and we all know the CHUCKY series could spin-off in great directions.
CHUCKY CHRISTMAS, CHUCKY'S HALLOWEEN, CHUCKY IN SPACE, etc. You get the idea. Try it out for fun. Place Chucky in any environment with any plot and it'd be a blast. The sign of a classic character.

CULT OF CHUCKY synopsis:
Confined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic "tool" to facilitate his patients' group sessions – an all-too-familiar "Good Guy" doll with an innocently smiling face – a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn't crazy after all. Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), Chucky's now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child's Play, races to Nica's aid. But to save her he'll have to get past Tiffany (Oscar-nominee Jennifer Tilly), Chucky's long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.
CULT OF CHUCKY is written and directed by Don Mancini and stars Jennifer Tilly, Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent, Grace Lynn Kung, Michael Therriault, Zak Santiago, Summer H. Howell, and, of course, Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky!
CULT OF CHUCKY is set to hit October 3rd.
