While I may get flamed for saying this, but I was never much of a fan of 1994’s THE CROW. I know it was a huge cult hit but I just didn’t get it – at all. But I’m sure many of you out there will be either thrilled or pissed that there’s a remake in the works. Stephen Norrington (BLADE) has signed on to direct THE CROW, which will be less a remake of the movie and more an adaptation of the original comic by James O’Barr. The project will be set up at Relativity Media outside of the studio system, which is a good thing for Norrington. The director hasn’t made a film since he famously fueded with Fox during 2003’s THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN. He had been in talks with Warner Bros. to direct both AKIRA and CLASH OF THE TITANS but left because, as Norrington puts it, he was “unable to excite Warner Bros.” with his takes on the film. As for THE CROW, Norrington said his film will be more “documentary-style” and “realistic” than Alex Proyas’ more stylized version. So if you’re a fan of THE CROW, are you down with this news or not?
