Critters producer would like to make a Critters Christmas special

Critters Attack!

After lying dormant for twenty-seven years, the CRITTERS franchise has finally been revived this year by the release of the Shudder web series Critters: A New Binge (which is basically a 70 minute feature cut into eight chapters) and the film CRITTERS ATTACK!, which was released on DVD and Blu-ray a couple weeks ago (you can pick up a copy HERE).

Peter Girardi of Warner Bros' digital studio Blue Ribbon Content has had a hand in both of these new Critters projects, and he isn't done bringing the ravenously hungry alien furballs back to our screens. Speaking at the San Diego Comic-Con last month, Girardi said that he "definitely wants to do more CRITTERS films". Girardi even mentioned one specific idea he would like to bring to life.

Syfy Wire reports that Girardi said he would like to produce a "Merry Crit-mas" holiday special because

When I go home to see my family [over the holidays] it’s a horror show."

Actress Dee Wallace, who played Helen Brown in the first CRITTERS and returns as a character called Aunt Dee in CRITTERS ATTACK! (as far as Wallace and ATTACK director Bobby Miller are concerned, Helen and Dee are the same person, but for some reason that information couldn't be provided within the film), was on the Comic-Con panel with Girardi and expressed support for his CRITTERS Christmas idea:

Fans love Christmas horror stuff."

I would love to see a CRITTERS movie set during the Christmas holiday, with the Critters rolling around in the snow. If this happens, it would also be like an in-joke come true for myself and some friends of mine, as we randomly started referring to Christmas as "Crittermas" some years ago.

So if you want more CRITTERS (and especially if you want a Christmas-set CRITTERS), buy those CRITTERS ATTACK! DVDs/Blus and tune in when the movie airs on Syfy in October.
