A new trailer for the supernatural horror flick THE APPARITION has appeared online and it looks surprisingly creepy and cool. A common complaint about this genre is the lack of originality and while this trailer does sport some of the imagery we’ve come to expect, it also has an interesting take on the ghost genre; that of humans “creating” one.
Now, I’m not a horror expert, so there may be some films out there that have similar themes, but this is the most current and original concept I’ve seen of late from a genre chock-full of demonic possessions and found-footage house hauntings.
Get spooked:
The film stars Sebastian Stan (Bucky in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER), Ashley Greene (TWILIGHT SAGA), and Tom Felton (Malfoy!) and the look of it reminds me of an old-school John Carpenter flick. Whether or not the substance of the film is like that is undetermined, but I most definitely feel some Carpenter-esque vibes here.
Grab ahold of the poster:
Here’s the official synopsis:
When frightening events start to occur in their home, young couple Kelly (Ashley Greene) and Ben (Sebastian Stan) discover they are being haunted by a presence that was accidentally conjured during a university parapsychology experiment. The horrifying apparition feeds on their fear and torments them no matter where they try to run. Their last hope is an expert in the supernatural (Tom Felton), but even with his help they may already be too late to save themselves from this terrifying force…
THE APPARITION starts creeping you out on August 24, 2012.
