The AMC-owned streaming service Shudder recently confirmed that a fourth season of the horror anthology series Creepshow is going into production – and now it has also been announced that the series will be getting a tie-in coffee table book that will give fans a glimpse behind the scenes. The working title for this book is Shudder’s Creepshow: From Script to Scream. From Cartel Entertainment and Creepshow showrunner and executive producer Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead) and brokered by Striker Entertainment, the book will include a foreword by Metallica lead guitarist / horror aficionado Kirk Hammett, and an afterword by Stephen King.
Here’s some more information from a press release:
Shudder’s Creepshow: From Script to Scream (working title), based on the hit anthology series from Nicotero, Stan Spry (The Cartel), Russell Binder (Striker Entertainment), and in partnership with Titan Books. The coffee-table book is written by Dennis Prince, designed by John J. Hill, and co-produced by Julia Hobgood, and brings fans behind the scenes of the acclaimed Creepshow series with deep dives into its riveting origins, gripping development, provocative production, sinister special effects, and much more. The series has been heralded as “an irresistibly macabre package,” (Slant Magazine) and “an undeniable love letter to all generations of horror fans,” (CBR), and over three seasons, has been one of the most-watched programs on Shudder.
Nicotero had this to say about the book:
I grew up wearing down my fingertips paging through books on the making of my favorite movies. I was ravenous to learn the behind-the-scenes secrets. So, I’m excited to be able to present a glimpse behind the making of this epic show!”
Creepshow is a continuation of the franchise George A. Romero and Stephen King began with the 1982 film Creepshow (watch it HERE) and the 1987 sequel Creepshow 2 (watch that one HERE). So I’m very glad that King will be contributing to the coffee table book.
To date there have been seventeen episodes of the show, most of those split into two separate stories, plus an animated special and a Christmas special.
Creepshow is presented as if it were
a comic book come to life. Explore terrors ranging from murder, creatures, monsters and delusions to the supernatural and unexplainable. You never know what will be on the next page…
Nicotero executive produces this Creepshow alongside Stan Spry, Jeff Holland, and Eric Woods of the Cartel; Brian Witten of Monster Agency Productions; Robert Dudelson, James Dudelson, and Jordan Kizwani of Taurus Entertainment; and Russell Binder of Striker Entertainment. Co-executive producers are the Cartel’s Geoff Silverman and Anthony Fankhauser, Monster Agency’s Julia Hobgood, and Striker’s Marc Mostman.
