One of the best found footage movies of the past few years has been the one-two punch of director Patrick Brice and star Mark Duplass' CREEP and CREEP 2. And if you were a fan of the first two films too, then I'm sure you're wondering too what's going on with CREEP 3? Well, director Patrick Brice recently spoke with the Something Ghoulish podcast, and let us all know that him and Mark Duplass still in the process of writing but they have finally found an idea that they’re really excited about. And evidently, it's something we haven’t really seen in horror movies, let alone found footage movies.
Specifically, Brice says about CREEP 3:
[We] finally found an idea that we’re really excited about. One of the things we want to keep true with these movies is that they’re still small scale. Keeping that focus tight. Letting it be something that sort of orbits around Mark’s character. We’ve found something we’re really excited about. We’re still in the process of writing. I can say that. It’s a chance for us to do something I haven’t really seen in horror movies, let alone found footage movies.
So when can we expect to see CREEP 3? Brice says:
We’re at the point where, if all goes well, shooting this movie later this year. [We have to] find a pocket in our schedules where we can actually make this movie and do right by it.
For those that might not know, the first movie centered on a young videographer who answers an online ad for a one-day job in a remote town to record the last messages of a dying man. When he notices the man's odd behavior, he starts to question his intentions. The follow up then centered on a video artist (played by Desiree Akhavan )looking for work who drives to a remote house in the forest to meet Duplass' character who claims to be a serial killer. But after agreeing to spend the day with him, she soon realizes that she made a deadly mistake.
Brice directed both CREEP and CREEP 2 from stories he came up with along with Duplass. Blumhouse helped distribute the movies and so it makes sense that if there is, in fact, a CREEP 3 on the horizon, Blumhouse will have a hand in it as well. I guess we'll find out sooner rather than later.
