Michael B. Jordan is giving audiences a reason to pre-order tickets for IMAX screenings of Creed III in a new IMAX featurette for the hard-hitting sequel. In the featurette, Jordan provides viewers with a behind-the-scenes look at the Rocky spinoff, detailing his filmmaking approach and emphasizing the emotional journey of the film’s characters. As Jordan talks over lots of new footage from the film, he boasts about how the IMAX experience helps Creed III pack a more brutal punch in cinemas.
“The core pillar of this franchise is figuring out who you really are and what’s worth fighting for,” Jordan says in the Creed III IMAX featurette. “In Creed III, I wanted to know what Adonis’ limits are. So, to be able to finally step behind the camera and continue to elevate and evolve this story, it’s something I’m eternally grateful for.”
“As a storyteller, you really put a piece of yourself in your films, from personal desires and goals to shortcomings failures, and mistakes,” Jordan continues. “Creed III isn’t your typical boxing movie. We really want to take advantage of the emotional journey of the characters, and put that into the ring and have it pay off in a physical way.”
In addition to hyping the filmmaking process and evolution of the characters, Jordan celebrates that Creed III is the first sports movie to be filmed using IMAX cameras. “With the IMAX experience, you can take in the environment in a way you normally wouldn’t. You’re able to see every bead of sweat, every impact, the ripples in the skin, the sounds of the footsteps. The punches. The music. The lack of Sound. You get to immerse yourself into the entire world.”
Michael B. Jordan directs Creed III from a story by Ryan Coogler, Keenan Coogler, and Zach Baylin. Keenan Coogler and Baylin wrote the screenplay. Creed III continues the story of Adonis Creed, the son of Appollo Creed, who trained under the legendary Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone). After dominating the boxing world, Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) thrived in his career and family. When a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy, Damian (Jonathan Majors), resurfaces after serving a long sentence in prison, he is eager to prove that he deserves his shot in the ring. The face-off between former friends is more than just a fight. To settle the score, Adonis must put his future on the line to battle Damian – a fighter with nothing to lose.
Joining Jordan, Thompson, and Davis-Kent in Creed III are Jonathan Majors, Wood Harris, Florian Munteanu, and Phylicia Rashad. The threequel marks Jordan’s directorial debut.
