Crabs! clip: crustaceans attack in horror comedy

Six years have passed since writer/director Pierce Berolzheimer’s feature debut Crabs! first caught our attention. Back then, the film was looking for assistance getting through post-production. It’s been a while, but Crabs! is finally ready to have its world premiere at FrightFest, and to mark the occasion a clip from the film has been released online. You can check it out in the embed above and get your first look at the movie’s killer crustaceans.

Produced by Berolzheimer, Noah Lang, and Evan Buxbaum, Crabs! is described as “a love letter to practical effects and old school monster movies”. Here’s the synopsis:

Mutated by nuclear runoff in the wake of the Fukushima disaster, a horde of murderous horseshoe crabs descend on the sleepy town of Mendocino, CA

And here’s an alternative synopsis:

A horde of murderous crab monsters descend on a sleepy coastal town on prom night, and only a ragtag group of outcasts can save the day.

The film stars Jessica Morris, Dylan Riley Snyder, Robert Craighead, and Allie Jennings.

Back in 2015, producer Noah said the film has a tone similar to Gremlins and The Lost Boys. I have been on board to watch the movie ever since then, so I’m glad it’s finally going to have a screening. I hope it won’t be much longer before I have the chance to watch it myself. I would want to see a movie about killer horseshoe crabs anyway, but the fact that this one stars Jessica Morris, who made her horror debut in 2000’s Bloody Murder and has been in many genre and Lifetime movies since then, makes me even more eager to check it out. I look forward to watching Morris battle these horseshoe crabs.

We’ll keep you updated on Crabs! as it continues to make its way out into the world.
