Scream 6: Courteney Cox praises the new script

While it hasn’t been officially announced that Courteney Cox is returning for the next installment of the Scream franchise, the actress does seem to be on board with the project and she recently spoke with Entertainment Tonight about the film’s screenplay.

During a chat with Entertainment Tonight’s Matt Cohen, Courteney Cox was asked about Scream 6 and while she couldn’t say much out of fear of retribution from Ghostface, she did indicate that the movie has one hell of a script:

“I don’t know about contracts and where things are, but I’ll tell you in the script — it’s a really good one. You actually have to be killed if you talk about it, so I’m not gonna say anything.”

News about the next Scream hit new heights last week when it was first announced that the surviving cast of the previous film, Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown, would all be returning. The news hit a fever pitch just a couple of days later when it was announced that Scream 4 fan-favorite, Hayden Panettiere, would also be returning for the new film. Scream 6 is slated to begin filming in June.

Courteney Cox has been a part of the franchise since the very beginning in 1996’s Scream. Cox plays reporter turned TV personality Gale Weathers and she herself has become a favorite amongst the fans. As a legacy character, hopes of her return come around every time a new film is announced so Cox’s approval of the script should be great news for fans. As for Neve Campbell, who plays Scream heroine Sidney Prescott, no word as of now if she will be returning but she has expressed being open to it if the script feels right.
