While X-MEN: APOCALYPSE may be the biggest X-Men film to date, 20th Century Fox has some big plans in store from the franchise, of which APOCALYPSE is only the beginning. The third solo Wolverine flick is in production, and Fox is adamant(ium) that Channing Tatum's Gambit is still a thing. There's also THE NEW MUTANTS which is coming our way from writer/director Josh Boone (THE FAULT IN OUR STARS) of which both Games of Thrones' Maisie Williams and Alexandra Shipp (Storm in APOCALYPSE) are rumored to be taking part in. So what else could Fox have up their sleeve? Taylor Swift.
You may be scratching your head, but let me point out that this is pure speculation on my part. There happen to be two dots out there and I'm going to connect them, regardless of whether or not they belong together. So let's get to it! First up is an Instagram picture posted by Sophie Turner. Here you can see Jean Grey and Tye Sheridan's Cyclops in a record store. Take note of the record Cyclops is holding. Also, take note of who's tagged on the album cover.
Now, I wouldn't blame you if the name Dazzler doesn't conjure up anything, but that character is actually a mutant with the ability to convert sound vibrations into light and energy beams. A mutant who becomes a pop star? Why not?!? Now, that may just be an Easter egg and that's all there is to it, but let me direct your attention to this picture from Taylor Swift's Instagram account. That's Swift standing next to writer/producer Simon Kinberg, James McAvoy and Sophie Turner.
So what does it all mean? It could be nothing. It's certainly not uncommon for celebrities to interact, hang out, and just check up on what they're doing. I do love the idea of Prof. X being a Taylor Swift fan…However, if Dazzler is to make her appearance in an X-Men flick down the road, Fox would do well by hiring an ACTUAL pop star. Her acting may be called into question but there's no doubts that she can deliver on the musical front. So do you think there's anything to these two pictures or are we reading too much into it?
X-MEN APOCALYPSE opens in theaters on May 27, 2016.
