Could the Killer Klowns from Outer Space get their own TV show?

It's been twenty-eight years since the KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE first invaded our planet, and for many of those years there has been talk that those interstellar clown-aliens could be making a return. A few years ago a sequel titled RETURN OF THE KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE IN 3D came close to happening, with the first film's director Stephen Chiodo returning to the helm and its star Grant Cramer reprising the role of Mike Tobacco, but things obviously fell apart.

Chiodo is not giving up on this property, though. The quest to bring the KILLER KLOWNS back to the screen continues, focus has just shifted from the big screen to the small screen. During a guest appearance on the awesome podcast The Movie Crypt, Chiodo revealed what's going on with the Klowns:

Right now, we are currently pursuing a long arch series for cable. We wondered, 'Should we do a sequel to the first one or do we do a remake?' We came up with a ‘requel’ – it’s a sequel and a remake. We’ve been developing this for a while. It’s a trilogy in four parts, and it really follows the continuing adventures of new people who are experiencing this phenomenon of a Klown invasion, and once in a while you see some of the old guys pop up and hear their stories – find out what happened over the last 25 years. It’s f*cking great."

Sure, there is some oddness in that quote, people have been especially baffled by that "trilogy in four parts" line, but it all sounds fitting when you're talking about the silly world of the KILLER KLOWNS. Whether their return to Earth comes in a feature or a TV show, I'd just be glad to watch these incredible-looking creatures back in action. I hope this "requel" will finally get off the ground soon.

In describing what sort of film a requel would be, Chiodo compared the idea to STAR WARS: EPISODE VII – THE FORCE AWAKENS, a movie that seemed to go over quite well with the audience.
