Could Star Wars: Episode VII be returning to the planet Hoth?

Here we go, clinging to every possible STAR WARS: EPISODE VII scrap and rumor to help us get a clear picture of where J.J. Abrams is taking us next Christmas. While many rumors are started by fans and other Internet trolls, this one has a little more credibility since it comes from James Bond himself, Sir Roger Moore.

During a recent appearance on Graham Norton’s talk show, Roger Moore shared a tidbit about his recent visit to the set of STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. Here is what he had to say.

“They were filming something with a lot of mountains and snow,” Moore told UK media personality Norton. “But I was signed to secrecy.”

Now, with a wide array of planets available in the galaxy far, far away, Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan could have visualized an all-new planet for plot purposes, but with the return of so many iconic original trilogy characters and settings, it would make sense that the Rebel Alliance would still have a base of operations on Hoth, the opening locale from THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.

While I am definitely excited that all of these trademarks from the classic films are coming back, I am beginning to get a little paranoid that Abrams may be sticking too close to George Lucas‘ first films which may prevent this from feeling like it’s own movie. But, that could all be for naught until we actually see some official footage from the movie. That should alleviate any concerns fans have going in to the December 18, 2015 release for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII.
