"Swear to me! Swear to Bubble Boy!"
Don't mind me, I'll just be over here cranking the lever of the old rumor mill, folks. I want to make sure everything is well powered-up for this one. Okay, so earlier today, Batman News reported that John Campea, a movie pundit on the world wide web, told the outlet that Matt Reeves would like Jake Gyllenhaal to be his Batman for the director's forthcoming film.
Now, not only is this a hardcore rumor, and should be taken with a healthy dose of Bat-salt, but John Campea doesn't exactly have the best track record of being right when it comes to leaking exclusive news. This article is purely for speculation purposes, and to see what y'all would think about Gyllenhaal slipping into the cape and cowl for Reeves' movie.
Personally, I think Ben Affleck is going to jump ship as Batman with the first chance he gets. I don't know the man personally, but I've never seen someone look so unenthusiastic to be the Bat in all my life. It could be that Affleck had envisioned a different set of circumstances when he signed on for the role, and as time went on, he'd discovered that being the Dark Knight wasn't all it's cracked up to be. I wouldn't blame him at all if he wanted to figure out a way to "gracefully exit" the franchise. Perhaps with the release of FLASHPOINT the studio can usher in a new actor to protect the streets of Gotham, maybe even Gyllenhaal?
Let us know what you think of this rumor in the comments section below. Also, be sure to tell us who you'd like to see replace Affleck as Batman. Because just like Affleck recently stated, "You don't do it forever."
