Cool Videos: Rey & BB-8 return in first Star Wars: Forces of Destiny short

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

I suppose we need something to tide us over until the release of STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI and the first installment of Disney's Star Wars: Forces of Destiny shorts may just be enough to satisfy our desires, briefly. The Forces of Destiny campaign will include figures, books, apparel, bedding, and much more, because, of course it will, but it will all be centered around a micro-series of animated shorts which celebrate the women of the STAR WARS franchise. Disney has released the first installment of that series, "Sands of Jakku," which picks up with Rey (Daisy Ridley) moments after she first met the adorable BB-8 in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS. Check it out!

President of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy said that Star Wars: Forces of Destiny is for "anyone who has been inspired by Leia’s heroism, Rey’s courage, or Ahsoka’s tenacity. We’re thrilled that so many of the original actors are reprising their roles in these shorts which capture the small moments and everyday decisions that shape who these characters are. It is a fun new way for people to experience Star Wars." Future installments of the micro-series will follow the all-new adventures of Princess Leia, Jyn Erso, Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren, and Maz Kanata. A new Star Wars: Forces of Destiny short will premiere each day on Disney's YouTube channel until July 9th.
