It’s extremely difficult to talk about STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS in a rational way these days. We’re a month and change out, and yet it feels like the fandom has been taken over by hype in a major way. I’m hopeful and cautiously optimistic for the new film, but I also lived through the prequels and experienced that excitement turned disappointment firsthand, so my trepedation to love wholeheartedly once again is understandable.
But from the sounds of it, there are some people who don’t care about that. This is STAR WARS. STAR WARS is back, and they know they’re going to love whatever is on the horizon, because it’s called STAR WARS (ignoring the fact that they don’t feel the same way about THE PHANTOM MENACE after all these years). As a result, their reactions to all things STAR WARS lately has been a bit on the extreme side, and, thanks to Funny Or Die’s latest mash-up, I think we’ve gotten a bit of a visual interpretation of how some of it has gone.
And really there is no need to take offense unless this accurately lays out your behavior when faced with STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.
