Cool Videos: Great VFX reel for Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel

Wes Anderson films are not the type of movies you would immediately think of in association with visual effects. Maybe because his style has all of the magic within the camera, but ever since THE FANTASTIC MR. FOX I have looked at his movies with a closer eye. His most recent film, THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, may be his most ambitious film to date and has several major sequences that heavily rely on special effects.

This reel of before and after VFX footage really puts into perspective how much high end work it takes to make Anderson’s movies look so homemade. There is never anything realistic in movies like THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL but they always feel like a pop-up book. This reel shows that whether it be fixing the patterns on walls or completely building the hotel itself, Wes Anderson‘s eye for detail extends through his entire crew.

THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL is now playing in theaters.
