I've always admired the Alamo Drafthouse policy on talking and texting in its theaters; they don’t like it and they don’t stand for it. You will get tossed out without a refund if you’re caught talking or texting during a movie, how great is that? They like to keep reminding everyone of this rule, and they do so with pretty funny videos from actors and filmmakers.
Richard Linklater took some time during his promotional rounds for BOYHOOD, which should be expanding into more theaters this week (so find it), to provide some helpful instructions on how to deal with these Tommy texters and chatty Cathy’s.
Also, while I’m shamelessly promoting BOYHOOD whenever I can around here, you should know that the movie was rated R by the MPAA"for language including sexual references, and for teen drug and alcohol use." In other words, the MPAA still sucks.
