There are acts of geek love, then there are impressive acts of geek love, and then there’s this. Which is somewhere beyond that whist still remaining awesome and without careening into the realm of crazy. Using over 60 hand-drawn images and 4,000 individual pictures of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toys, Kyle Robert and friends have re-created the opening sequence to the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle TV show. And it is very cool, if for no other reason than the sheer amount of effort and passion needed for such an endeavor.
Interestingly enough the video below was sponsored by The Toy and Action Figure Museum, the curator of which (named Kevin Stark) actually designed a great many of the pieces from the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toy line that was released in 1990.
In other news, even if eating Sweet ‘n Low and washing it down with black coffee does this to the imagination, I’m still not doing it. No. Just… just no.
Oh, and don’t forget about the new TMNT movies that is in the works right now, possibly to be directed by Jonathan Liebesman (WRATH OF THE TITANS). Unless you want to forget all about it, in which case do whatever you want.
