For decades we've become so accustomed to Chewbacca's distinctive growls, warbles and roars that anything different would sound incredibly strange. Over the weekend documentarian Jamie Benning uncovered footage from the set of THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK which features Chewbacca speaking with Peter Mayhew's British accent, and it definitely gives a whole different feel to the character. Mayhew himself shared the footage, calling it a "wonderful bit of stuff," and it leaves me wondering what Chewbacca's English lines were for the rest of the trilogy.

Thankfully we haven't seen the last of Chewbacca as he'll be appearing in Rian Johnson's STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII on December 15, 2017 and Phil Lord and Christopher Miller's UNTITLED HAN SOLO STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY FILM on May 25, 2018 where he'll be joined by Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian.
