So this is fun! Back in the 90's, zombie-movie maestro George Romero (NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD series) was contacted by Capcom to direct a live-action Japanese commercial for their videogame BIOHAZARD 2, which would become RESIDENT EVIL 2 back in the states! It stars Brad Renfro (APT PUPIL) as Leon S. Kennedy, and Adrienne Frantz (THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL) as Claire Redfield, and you can watch it at the top of the article.
Here's the synopsis for the game, for those who have never played:
Two months after the events of the first Resident Evil, most citizens of the Midwestern American mountain community Raccoon City have been transformed into zombies by the T-virus, a biological weapon secretly developed by the pharmaceutical company Umbrella. Leon S. Kennedy, a police officer on his first day of duty, and Claire Redfield, a college student looking for her brother Chris, make their way to the Raccoon Police Department. They discover that most of the police force have been killed, and that Chris has left town to investigate Umbrella's headquarters in Europe. They split up to look for survivors and find a way out of the city. While searching for an escape route, Claire meets a little girl, Sherry Birkin, who is on the run from an unknown creature, and Leon encounters Ada Wong, who claims to be looking for her boyfriend John, an Umbrella researcher.
Meanwhile, RESIDENT EVIL is currently getting a new, rebooted live-action series at Netflix, while RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE will be hitting consoles and PC sometime next year!
So what do you guys think? Does it make you sad that he didn't get to direct the movie, or glad we dodged a bullet? Either way, sound off below!
