We've got a really cool treat to send you guys off into your weekend with in the form of a roundtable discussion between three legendary horror directors that need no introduction: David Cronenberg, John Carpenter and John Landis. In 1982, while working at Universal studios as a publicity and marketing specialist in the horror and science fiction genre, Mick Garris produced and hosted this 26 minute roundtable discussion between the directors. All three were working on projects at Universal at the time and this piece was originally created for Universal promotional purposes.
We don't usually see filmmakers in front of the camera, which is why this roundtable discussion is so cool because it has three of horror's biggest influences in one room together talking about their craft. There's a lot of little gems here, I particularly liked when Carpenter talks about the one movie that scared him as a kid. It turns out that IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE in 3D was enough to scare a four-year-old John Carpenter. How awesome is that! All three parts of the discussion are below. Enjoy!
