Thom Burgess, creator of the supernatural horror comic Malevolents, is teaming with filmmaker Toby Meakins to develop GHOSTER, a concept described as a mixture of Assassin's Creed, Harry Potter, and Kingsman, and which the pair believes has franchise potential of its own. Having gotten a glimpse at the lookbook they've put together for the project, I have to agree – they've created a very interesting world for GHOSTER, one I can definitely see becoming a popular franchise.
Here's the basic synopsis:
The world is plagued by vicious MALEVOLENTS, evil ghosts that feed on pain, suffering and death. There remains one hope amidst the terror, a 21-year-old dropout who must to fight to claim his extraordinary birthright – Spectral assassin, hunter of the dead… GHOSTER
To help promote the idea, Meakins has directed a short film that serves as a "proof of concept" video, giving further information on the Ghoster, then showing the character in action, taking on one of the evil Malevolents.
This all seems very cool to me, and I would love to see GHOSTER get expanded into a series with a healthy budget behind it.
