Much like the mom and pop video stores that used to line every street corner back in the day, video arcades are slowly disappearing and that is a real shame. As a kid I would pedal my bike to our local arcade with a pocket full of quarters, eager to do battle against my pals in some Pac-Man, Galaga and, of course, Paperboy.
Ah, yes. Paperboy! Who could forget that game? If you don’t remember, Paperboy was a 1984 arcade hit where you would play the role of a paperboy who delivers newspapers along a suburban street on his bicycle. The game was ported to numerous video game consoles and personal computers. The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) version represented the first NES game developed in the United States. Needless to say, it was a massive hit.
Today we have a cool horror video titled PAPERBOY 3: THE HARD WAY, where some clever filmmakers parodied the 8-bit fave, shooting it as a VHS style bloody revenge flick with a strong Troma influence. Yes, the Paperboy has become the PaperMAN! I’ll bet you get as much of a kick out of this as I did, even if you never played Paperboy.
