Earlier today I was researching all things involving Mark Hamill and Lar Klevberg's and MGM's upcoming remake of Tom Holland and Don Mancini's CHILD'S PLAY and I came across a very interesting bit of trivia. Turns out that Hamill has already lent his voice to the infamous killer doll in an episode of Seth Green's Adult Swim series ROBOT CHICKEN! And better yet, there is video footage of the skit in question and you can check it out below right now.
As you might imagine, Hamill does a pretty spot-on impression of Brad Dourif in the skit. But I'm thinking this won't be what Hamill plans to do with the character once he's let loose on the big screen in this year's remake. Maybe he will. But something tells me we are in for something even creepier come this summer. I guess we'll see soon enough!
The upcoming remake's official synopsis reads:
A mother (Plaza) gives her son (Bateman) a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.
The remake is directed by Lars Klevberg (POLAROID) from a screenplay written by KUNG FURY 2 writer Tyler Burton Smith with STEPHEN KING'S IT producers David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith producing. Aaron Schmidt and Chris Ferguson executive produced. Aubrey Plaza stars as Andy's Mom, along with Brian Tyree Henry as Mike, Gabriel Bateman (LIGHTS OUT) as Andy, and Mark Hamill as the voice of Chucky. Beatrice Kitsos, Ty Consiglio, and Carlease Burke co-star. CHILD'S PLAY stalks and slashes its tiny terrifying ass into your local multiplex come June 21, 2019.
