After the release of Ridley Scott's 1979 film ALIEN, the movie-watching public was hit with a deluge of low budget cash-ins and rip-offs that lasted for years. A few months ago, I wrote a Face-Off that pit two such films against each other (FORBIDDEN WORLD vs. CREATURE), and there are many more: GALAXY OF TERROR, INSEMINOID, ALIEN CONTAMINATION, ALIEN TERROR, the list goes on and on.
One ALIEN rip-off that never made it out into the world is LASER FORCE:
A deadly alien has come to Earth to harvest its women! It's time to call the greatest force for good; LASER FORCE!
All that remains of LASER FORCE is a battered old trailer that was set loose into theatres ahead of the theatrical release that seems to have never happened. That trailer can be seen below…
Actually, this faux trailer is a new short from filmmaker Brett Kelly, who shot these LASER FORCE shenanigans on Super 8mm film.
If LASER FORCE did exist, it would have been an awful film – but one of those movies so terrible that it's highly entertaining to watch. If Kelly wanted to turn this idea into a feature, I would be all for it, but in the meantime check out the video below and take in 4 and a half minutes of the best worst ALIEN cash-in never made.
