The rights to the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET franchise are now in the hands of Wes Craven's estate, and they are taking pitches to find the best way to move things forward. For me, the greatest option would be a sequel in which Robert Englund plays Freddy Krueger one last time… but if that's not meant to be, a well-crafted show on Netflix would be a terrific consolation prize.
Using footage from THE NEW MUTANTS, 31, MAMA, IT: CHAPTER TWO, BEFORE I WAKE, RUPTURE, A CURE FOR WELLNESS, THE INVISIBLE MAN 2020, SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK, the CHILD'S PLAY remake, the POLTERGEIST remake, the FLATLINERS remake, and Doom Patrol, as well as clips from several of the ELM STREET films and a couple fan creations, YouTuber Mindd Kidzag created an awesome trailer that imagines what a Netflix Elm Street series could be like. And if Netflix started streaming a show that looked and felt just like the trailer embedded above, I would watch the hell out of that show.
Shots of a Freddy who always has a bit of fire burning on him are lifted from a previous fan video called "A Nightmare on Elm Street – Remake Concept Teaser", and that's an idea I kind of like.
It might be a while before we really find out what the future holds for Elm Street and Freddy Krueger, but this fan trailer can help fuel some of our daydreams while we wait.
