Halloween is almost upon us so it’s as good of a time as any to take a look back at one of horror’s biggest cliches: killers always walk. And what better example of this cliche than everyone’s favorite boogeyman, Michael Myers?
Let’s face it: when a killer runs, it just isn’t as scary. There’s something rather menacing about a silent killer who slowly walks towards his intended victim, creating a sense of dread and unease. Besides, why should the killer run when it’s a sure bet their victim is going to trip and fall or run into a dead end? No, don’t expect to see Michael Myers lacing up his running shoes to hit the track to work in some cardio…sprinting after his prey just isn’t his style.
So it’s time we lace up the gloves and give the knockout punch to this ‘Walk, Don’t Run‘ cliche. It’s better to take this cliche to the mat than to go one-on-one in the ring with Michael Myers, anyway. You just can’t stop that guy!
