David Cronenberg and composer Howard Shore have collaborated on over a dozen films, including SCANNERS and THE BROOD, which have received primo vinyl releases from retro soundtrack distributor Mondo. But with that kind of well of content, there's no way they would rest there. The company will be resurrecting three more Cronenberg scores, appearing for the first time on vinyl over the course of the summer.
Here's the deets:
DEAD RINGERS
Shore's score creates a beautiful yet mysterious atmosphere. However, Shore uses the beauty of a string orchestra to represent the sinister. Howard Shore has said that "the music in Dead Ringers works all around the edges. It's all about subtext."
The album, out May 25th, features original artwork by Rich Kelly.
NAKED LUNCH
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the score for Naked Lunch was composed by three-time Oscar-winner Howard Shore collaborating with both jazz legend Ornette Coleman and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
The album, released this June, features original artwork by Randy Ortiz.
CRASH
Crash is an utterly audacious piece of work from Shore-using 6 electric guitars, 3 orchestral harps, 3 woodwinds and 2 percussionists. Shore crafts a meticulous sonic landscape.
The album, out this July, also features original artwork by Rich Kelly.
The albums will all be available for purchase on Mondo's web site. Check out some of Shore's score for DEAD RINGERS below!
