Let's raise a little hell! San Diego Comic-Con will not be taking place in its usual format due to the COVID-19 pandemic but, in the name of safety and health, Comic-Con will be coming to people's homes this year with the event Comic-Con@Home. Due to take place in a little over a month, details are starting to emerge about who and what will be featured during the virtual event and one panel that has officially been announced is a 15th-anniversary reunion of the film CONSTANTINE. Keanu Reeves will be there, as well as director Francis Lawrence and producer Akiva Goldsman.
The Comic-Con panel will be coming courtesy of "Collider" and they promise some interesting stories from behind-the-scenes of the making of the 2005 adaptation of the popular DC comic book. What is unknown is which day during the weekend event that the reunion will take place but we do know that the panel will run for forty-five minutes.
The 2005 film is based on the DC character John Constantine and follows an ordinary man with an extraordinary gift who must save the planet from evil. What is unknown to most people on Earth is that the world is crowded with spirits both good and evil who walk among us in human guise. John Constantine is one of the few who can see these spirits and it's a responsibility that is sometimes more than he can stand. The film also stars Rachel Weisz, Djimon Hounsou, Shia LaBeouf, and Tilda Swinton.
CONSTANTINE was a moderate performer in the U.S. with a gross of $76 million off of a $100 million budget but its international grosses bailed the film out a bit by carrying the movie to a global take of $230.9 million. Critics weren't enthused by CONSTANTINE with the film scoring a rotten score of 46% on Rotten Tomatoes but in the years since its release, the film has developed a bit of a cult following with some fans even wanting to see Keanu Reeves take on the character again in a sequel. The increased popularity of Keanu Reeves in recent years has only made fans want this more and while that may not be in the cards, the reunion is sure to get them pumped.
Will YOU be checking out the CONSTANTINE reunion? Be sure to check out the Comic-Con@Home site for all the details on incoming panels and scheduling updates for the event that takes place July 22-26.
