Confirmed: Zombieland 2 starts shooting this January

We all know well and good by this point that the Twinkie-eating, zombie-bashing good times are soon upon us again as DEADPOOL screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick dropped the news that ZOMBIELAND 2 will be shooting soon with the original cast for an October 2019 release.

And today we have confirmation that the original film's director Ruben Fleischer (VENOM) is already hard at work on the sequel which is set to see the return of the original movie's cast including Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin.

Ruben Fleischer:

I'm thrilled. We're already actually starting Zombieland. I've been scouting and storyboarding and getting it going, and to get to work with that cast again is just an absolute dream come true. It's been really exciting starting to think about that movie, and to get to work with Emma, Jesse, Woody, and Abigail once again is truly a dream come true. Yeah, we're just at the very early stages, but we have an amazing script, and we're going to start shooting in Georgia in January.

The story Reese and Wernick crafted for this long-awaited sequel has the following synopsis:

In ZOMBIELAND 2, through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, the Zombie slayers must face off against many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.

ZOMBIELAND 2 crawls back into theaters for more horror-comedy good times come October 11, 2019.
