First Coming 2 America images reunite Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall

Quick! Someone book Randy Watson and The Sexual Chocolate because we've got something worth celebrating!

Amazon today released the first images for Coming 2 America, the long-gestating sequel that reunites Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, Shari Headley, John Amos, and Louie Anderson for a welcomed sequel to the 1988 original comedy.

Directed by Craig Brewer (Black Snake Moan, Hustle & Flow) from a screenplay by Kenya Barris and Barry W. Blaustein, and David Sheffield, the sequel welcomes the Zamundan royal family back for another fish-out-of-water comedy treat. Set in the lush and royal country of Zamunda, newly-crowned King Akeem (Eddie Murphy) and his trusted confidante Semmi (Arsenio Hall) embark on an all-new hilarious adventure that has them traversing the globe from their great African nation to the borough of Queens, New York – where it all began.

Joining Murphy and Hall for the hotly-anticipated sequel are actors Jermaine Fowler, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, KiKi Layne, and Shari Headley, with Wesley Snipes and James Earl Jones. The film also stars John Amos, Teyana Taylor, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Paul Bates, Nomzamo Mbatha, and Bella Murphy.

You can check out a series of first-look photos from the upcoming film below:

Oh man, I did not anticipate how much these photos would add to my excitement for this movie. From where I'm sitting, it feels as if we've been talking about this project for years, and now it's finally happening. Plus, it looks as if plenty of everyone's favorite characters will be back, including the bickering Barber Shop bunch. I can only imagine what they'll be grousing about after some time has passed, and boy will they be delighted to see their favorite royal customer walk through their door once again. Make sure your royal bits are clean and be sure to check the movie out early next year!

Amazon Prime Video will summon their rose petal bearers for Coming 2 America on March 5, 2021.
