The last time we reported on the characters of the Hack/Slash comic book, they were about to have a run-in with horror comic icon Vampirella. Now they're set to have a crossover with another popular comic title, The Crow.
Titled The Crow Hack/Slash, this four-issue crossover is written and drawn by Hack/Slash creator Tim Seeley, with inks by The Crow's Jim Terry. The set-up:
The crow flies. A soul is brought back. But something is wrong.
Angeles Cero won't stop killing on her quest for revenge, and the bodies are piling up. Now, slasher hunter Cassie Hack and her monstrous partner Vlad are on the trail of the Crow Killer, assuming her to be one of the masked murderers they've hunted for years.
But they aren't the only force trying to make the universe right again.
Seeley had this to say about the decision to have a Crow clash with Cassie and Vlad:
The Crow defined me as a fan of the comics medium, but also introduced me to a whole world of music and fashion that I'd never had access to before – one that completely fit the attitude my teenage brain was desperately looking for. It introduced me to the idea that comics could tell dark and personal stories full of pain and beauty. No doubt about it – without O'Barr's original The Crow, there would never have been a Hack/Slash. Mixing Cassie, Vlad, and The Crow has been in the making for 25 years, and my buddy Jim Terry and I cannot wait to unleash it on the world."
Coming from IDW Publishing, the first issue of The Crow Hack/Slash will reach store shelves on June 19th.
The Hack/Slash characters have previously crossed paths with popular horror names like Chucky, Victor Crowley, Herbert West, and Ash Williams. I have been collecting Hack/Slash comics since the first issue in 2004, so I will definitely be picking up this Crow crossover as well.
