Comic book legend Stan Lee to appear in Kevin Smith’s Yoga Hosers

Five years ago I never would've believed that anything Kevin Smith related would make it onto a horror site like AITH, but then he blasted us all in the face with RED STATE (a film I really enjoyed), proving that he's much more than just a comedy guy. And judging from what we've seen from his upcoming TUSK, I think the director has truly found a second home in horror, even if it is his own twistedly comic take on the genre.

We've known for a while that Smith was working on a spinoff from TUSK titled YOGA HOSERS, a flick that Smith has described as a 'comic book film' involving two 15 year old yoga nuts taking on an ancient evil. Recently we brought you the news that Johnny Depp had signed on to YOGA HOSERS (what a title!), joining Smith's daughter Harley Quinn Smith and Depp's daughter Lily-Rose Depp onscreen. Also starring in this romp: most of the TUSK cast (including Michael Parks, Justin Long, Haley Joel Osment, Genesis Rodriguez, Ralph Garman, Jennifer Schwalbach and Harley Morenstein) as well as Tony Hale, Natasha Lyonne, Austin Butler, Adam Brody, Tyler Posey and Jason Mewes. Now you can add comic book legend Stan Lee to the already impressive cast.

Yesterday Smith tweeted the following image of Lee in YOGA HOSERS:

I guess it only makes sense to include Lee in Smith's 'comic book film'. Smith has worked with Stan Lee previously on MALLRATS, which was full of comics references.

YOGA HOSERS focuses on

15-year-old yoga nuts Colleen Collette (Lily-Rose Depp) and Colleen McKenzie (Harley Quinn Smith) who have an after-school job at a Manitoba convenience store called Eh-2-Zed. When an ancient evil rises from beneath Canada’s crust and threatens their big invitation to a Grade 12 party, the Colleens join forces with a legendary man-hunter from Montreal named Guy Lapointe (Depp) to fight for their lives with, according to the producers, “all seven Chakras, one Warrior Pose at a time.”

Hopefully YOGA HOSERS will be right up our alley. We'll keep you posted on news regarding this one as we hear it. And look for TUSK to hit theaters on September 19.
