Now that it's been around for several years, how do you feel about films that are presented in 3D? Does the effect still excite and add to your cinematic experience, or has the gimmick of 3D reached the point of feeling like it's only function is to prey on you like some kind of wallet vampire? In my humble opinion, I've seen very few features where the 3d-ness of them served to elevate the film I was watching to new heights. In fact, my three best 3D movie-going experiences have been CORALINE, James Cameron's AVATAR, and most recently, Disney's live-action BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.
Today, Distrib Films US has released a trailer for TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY 3D, which is ironically presented in 2D. Nevertheless, James Cameron's T2: Judgment Day is an iconic piece of action cinema, and honestly, I'm sure that more than a few fans will flock to the theaters to see Arnold give an extra-dimensional thumbs up as he's lowered into a vat of molten liquid.

Additionally, here's the official synopsis for T2: JUDGMENT DAY 3D:
It has been 10 years since the events of Terminator. Sarah Connor’s ordeal is only just beginning as she struggles to protect her son John, the future leader of the human resistance against the machines, from a new Terminator, sent back in time to eliminate John Connor while he’s still a child. Sarah and John don’t have to face this terrifying threat alone however. The human resistance have managed to send them an ally, a warrior from the future ordered to protect John Connor at any cost. The battle for tomorrow has begun….
James Cameron’s masterpiece starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in his most iconic role, has been converted in immersive 3D by Cameron himself. First hitting our screens in 1991 with groundbreaking special effects, the 3D version will take the seminal blockbuster to the next level of effects and into the 21st century for the next generation of fans.
Personally, I won't be running to the theater to catch this 3D presentation. There will always be a place in my over-the-top action loving heart for Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Robert Patrick, and Edward Furlong's sci-fi masterpiece, but I'd take a fully-restored 2D version over this one any day of the week.
T2: JUDGMENT DAY 3D will arrive in theaters on August 25, 2017.
