Columbia Pictures plan to bring Flatliners back to life with the remake treatment

My Mom is going to shit bricks when she finds out they are remaking FLATLINERS. She liked it so much that she bought the novel that was based on the movie. It’s still in the house next to the re-issue copy of “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton with Tom Cruise and the rest of the boys slapped on the cover.

Anywho, if you can remember as far back as 1990, you might recall that FLATLINERS was a movie directed by Joel Schumacher starring Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, Oliver Platt and William Baldwin. It was about a group of med students who get sucked in by the curiosity of life beyond death. In order to do this, they experience clinical death for a minute then are brought back to life with emergency procedures. Obviously, it was a terrible idea. They end up being haunted by specific experiences in the past and have no clue whether they are hallucinating or not. When a 12-year old boy kicks the beats the crap out of you in the afterlife, you have the bruises and blood to prove it in the present. Stay away, Billy Mahoney!!! I’m not going to lie though, I wanted to slap the shit out of the kids in Nelson and David’s past.

Columbia Pictures has decided to bring new life to the film by remaking it. Ben Ripley (SOURCE CODE) will write the screenplay. I don’t know if you care or not if they remake this one. I really enjoyed the original but can never find anyone else besides my mom who has seen it (I know, it’s weird). Good luck getting a cast as cool as the original one.
