After your film makes well over a billion dollars worldwide, it's only natural that studios will start digging up your past work. Seven years ago Colin Trevorrow wrote STEALING TIME, a time-traveling adventure film which Walt Becker (WILD HOGS) was set to direct for Columbia, and now THR reports that the project has been revived by Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks.
STEALING TIME involves "a scientist who flees into the past to protect his time machine, forcing his son and grandson to rebuild the device in the present to rescue him, all while fleeing crooks bent on exploiting time travel." Dreamworks is hoping to recapture the tone of the Amblin adventure movies produced by Spielberg in the 1980s, and STEALING TIME apparently fits the bill. Tim Dowling (THIS MEANS WAR) has been tapped to pen a new draft and Colin Trevorrow will be on board as an executive producer.
Trevorrow has seen a pretty impressive rise over the past few years, beginning with JURASSIC WORLD which led to securing directing gigs for BOOK OF HENRY, INTELLIGENT LIFE, and the big one, STAR WARS: EPISODE IX. How can he ever top that?
