Jurassic World 2 Carrie Fisher Star Wars Episode IX Colin Trevorrow

J.A. Bayona is still in the midst of production on JURASSIC WORLD 2, but Colin Trevorrow, director of the first JURASSIC WORLD, recently spoke with CinemaBlend to say that Bayona's sequel will be much scarier than his installment. Trevorrow praised Bayona's ability at creating scares, saying, "there are things that he'll just do with a shadow, or a rustling curtain on a wall. He's so tapped into that kind of fear, especially the fear through the eyes of child." The BOOK OF HENRY director went on to say that his working relationship with J.A. Bayona is "by far the most satisfying collaboration of my life," and that JURASSIC WORLD 2 will take the series to new heights, without forgetting what some people enjoyed about the first.

I think the scares in the first movie were made to make children think like they were seeing something horrifying, that their parents shouldn't be allowing them to see. We have that a little bit here. But there's also that same big, fun adventure, sweeping, romantic kind of action in part of the movie. That people seemingly responded really well to. We're not throwing it all way, but we're definitely going to some new places.

With Colin Trevorrow's next, THE BOOK OF HENRY, set to be released on June 16, 2017, he will soon be able to give STAR WARS: EPISODE IX his complete attention. Unfortunately, he'll have to make due without the greatness which was Carrie Fisher. I certainly don't envy Trevorrow's task, but the director told CinemaBlend that her absence will in EPISODE IX be treated with great love and respect.

She was a major character, that's not a secret. She really was. And it was extremely sad for all of us, mostly just because she was so loved by the Star Wars family and everyone that worked with her. I feel like our options are limited mostly by ourselves, in that there is only certain things that we are willing to do. But I can guarantee it will be handled with love and respect, and all of the soul that Carrie Fisher deserves.

I suppose we may never know what Carrie Fisher's role in STAR WARS: EPISODE IX really would have been, but Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has said that EPISODE IX would have absolutely been her movie, much as THE FORCE AWAKENS was Harrison Ford's and THE LAST JEDI will be Mark Hamill's. JURASSIC WORLD 2 is set for a June 22, 2018 release and STAR WARS: EPISODE IX will hit theaters on May 24, 2019.
