Thai Cinema
has located the teaser poster in the latest of freaky sh*t to come out of the
south pacific, and between that and the very cool synopsis (courtesy of
24 Frames per
Second ) THE COFFIN sounds like an awesome ride.
THE COFFIN follows
Chris,
an average Thai-Chinese guy living
in Sydney. Following the Thai custom to cheat death and rid oneself of bad luck
he agrees to a bizarre dare at a party, to lay in a coffin for a whole night. As
the lid is nailed shut and claustrophobia strikes he soon feels short of
breathe, But as the Coffin suddenly shakes violently he soon realizes that
claustrophobia is the least of the terrors awaiting him.
It sounds strange, but I know
someone who uses a similar concept to help alleviate stress by spending a day in
a sensory deprivation tank. I spent about five minutes in one before I almost
had a panic attack, so that may be why I can’t think of anything scarier than
spending a night in a coffin.
Also the poster is looking very
cool, and helps drive across the point of claustrophobia by having darkness
pushing in on all sides of the main character. No word yet on a release date but
as soon as I know, you’ll be the first people I’ll pass the word onto.
