In preparation for Cobra Kai's move to Netflix for its third season, the streamer is bringing the first two seasons of the popular former YouTube series to its platform beginning on August 28, 2020.
Cobra Kai debuted in May 2018 and became a huge breakout for YouTube. A second season of the series was approved within days of the first season's premiere and YouTube originally intended to launch season 3, which has already been shot last fall. YouTube ultimately decided to ditch original scripted fare on its platform in favor of unscripted programming which prompted the shift to Netflix. Cobra Kai is set decades after the original KARATE KID films and stars William Zabka as former bully Johnny Lawrence. Now firmly in middle age and with nothing to show for it, Johnny reopens the Cobra Kai dojo in a bid to get his life back together. Lawrence takes in a band of misfit youths under his wing with Ralph Maccio also returning as Johnny's arch-rival Daniel LaRusso, who is now a rich and successful car dealer. Soon two duo finds themselves becoming martial-arts rivals once again.
