Cobra Kai Season 5 first-look images show Sean Kanan, Alicia Hannah-Kim, and more

Netflix’s “Miyagi-Verse” expands today with a gallery of first-look images for Cobra Kai Season 5. Ready to kick you squarely in the breadbasket beginning on September 9Cobra Kai Season 5 introduces new characters, sets up new dramas, and continues to show no mercy.

When Cobra Kai kicks back into high gear, the new season features The Karate Kid Part III star Sean Kanan as Mike Barnes and Alicia Hannah-Kim’s debut as South Korean sensei Kim Da-Eun.

“As Terry Silver [Thomas Ian Griffith] calls upon some old friends to put the Valley in a stranglehold, Daniel and Johnny are going to need all the help they can get to stop Cobra Kai in its tracks,” teased executive producers Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg about the new season at Netflix’s Tudum on Tuesday.

Mike was a villain in the third Karate Kid movie, but enemies have a way of becoming friends in Cobra Kai. Case in point, Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto) is now working with Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) to help put Silver in his place. Will Mike align himself with Miyagi-do? Meanwhile, Kim is clearly taking on a villainous role after joining the corrupt Cobra Kai dojo.

Here’s the official logline for Cobra Kai Season 5:

Following the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, Season 5 finds Terry Silver expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his “No Mercy” style of karate the only game in town. With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel LaRusso must call on an old friend for help.

Cobra Kai is written and executive produced by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg via their production company, Counterbalance Entertainment. Will Smith, James Lassiter, and Caleeb Pinkett executive produce for Westbrook Entertainment and Susan Ekins in association with Sony Pictures Television. Ralph Macchio and William Zabka also serve as executive producers.

The cast of Netflix’s Cobra Kai features Ralph Macchio (Daniel LaRusso), William Zabka (Johnny Lawrence), Courtney Henggeler (Amanda LaRusso), Xolo Maridueña (Miguel Diaz), Tanner Buchanan (Robby Keene), Mary Mouser (Samantha LaRusso), Jacob Bertrand (Hawk), Gianni Decenzo (Demetri), Vanessa Rubio (Carmen), Peyton List (Tory) and Martin Kove (John Kreese) with Dallas Dupree Young (Kenny), Oona O’Brien (Devon), Griffin Santopietro (Anthony), Yuji Okumoto (Chozen), and Thomas Ian Griffith (Terry Silver).
